Case Study: Greenpeace empowers 63,000+ volunteers for local action with Open Social's Greenwire platform

A Open Social Case Study

Preview of the Greenpeace Case Study

Empowering members to take global action

Greenpeace operates Greenwire, a global online community connecting staff and volunteers across its regional chapters. Faced with the challenge of empowering members to create local change while managing multiple independent sites and keeping platforms up to date, Greenpeace worked with Open Social to adopt the Greenwire Volunteer Engagement Platform and migrate from Greenwire 3.0 to Open Social’s online community SaaS.

Open Social migrated Greenwire to its SaaS, created a reusable community template and deployed 10 independent Greenwire sites, and added features like flexible and secret groups, Topics, content streams, events and resources to support local campaigns and micro-communities. The solution enabled simultaneous updates and easier customization, and delivered measurable impact: 10 independent communities, over 63,000 volunteers and more than 11,000 events network-wide—powered by Open Social.
