Take Control of MathWorks® Licenses

VersionBay works with companies to reduce the risk of migrating MATLAB code to newer versions, but it struggled to measure and track MATLAB usage across projects and consultants. The company needed a better way to see how many hours were spent on each project, which MATLAB versions were being used, and how much of its software budget was tied up in MathWorks tools. Open iT’s Analyzer for MathWorks Licensing Level 2 and LicensePlanner were used to address these challenges.

Open iT implemented reporting and metering tools that let VersionBay track MATLAB and toolbox usage by project, monitor time spent on each MATLAB version, and even meter standalone desktop and MATLAB Online usage. The out-of-the-box reports were usable right away, helping justify the investment during the proof of concept, and VersionBay said the tools were easy to connect to its dashboards. With Open iT, VersionBay can now identify versions, toolboxes, and usage duration more clearly, improving its ability to support multiple MATLAB versions for customers.
