HOMAG Group, a global leader in woodworking production solutions, needed to modernize its woodWOP CNC programming software with CAD capabilities as the industry rapidly evolved. In 2004, the company partnered with Open Cascade to add CAD background, a fully parametric 2.5D sketcher, support for multiple CAD formats, and 3D visualization to improve design, simulation, and machine programming.

Open Cascade delivered customized CAD/CAM components based on Open CASCADE Technology, including a parametric sketcher, CAD plug-ins, a 3D viewer, and a tailored application framework for HOMAG’s needs. The result was a more powerful woodWOP system that enables fast, secure CNC programming without deep CNC knowledge, supports real-time collision checking and machining simulation, and is now used on about 30,000 CNC machines and 30,000 office PCs by roughly 100,000 users worldwide.
