A Open Assessment Technologies Case Study
Comenius, a program in Europe focused on reducing student dropouts, needed a computer-based self-assessment tool for at-risk youth. The initiative aimed to help students and educators better understand the dropout problem and support other prevention efforts, while remaining easy for students ages 14 to 18 to use.
Open Assessment Technologies provided TAO, a web-based assessment platform, to build and deliver the self-assessment surveys. The tool was piloted over two months with more than 800 students, who approved 130 items before the questionnaire was reduced to 52 items. The final version was targeted for implementation and diffusion in June 2015.
