A OP5 Case Study

Transtelco the Need for a Distributed Monitoring Environment

Transtelco, an ISP with significant fiber infrastructure on the US/Mexico border, faced challenges with its outdated Nagios-based monitoring system. Their well-regarded NOC team struggled with performance issues, a lack of distributed monitoring capabilities, and difficulties with automation and integration. To address these problems without increasing headcount, their DevOps team sought a new flexible and reliable solution, ultimately selecting OP5 Monitor.

OP5 implemented a distributed monitoring environment for Transtelco using its OP5 Monitor product, which provided high availability and scalable architecture right out of the box. The solution included deploying multiple masters and pollers, and despite a minor scripting issue resolved by OP5 support, the migration was successful. The results gave Transtelco full redundancy, seamless integration via the OP5 API for their customer portal, and the ability to monitor over 5,000 devices without worrying about system downtime.
