Creating eCMS Tableau reports to help improve efficiency and effectiveness of preparing and validating preliminary invoices

Leading Construction Company faced slow, manual Time and Materials (T&M) preliminary invoicing: their eCMS ERP produced long, text-based transaction reports that required cross-referencing across multiple systems (payroll, job cost, HR, rental system, and credit card CSVs), forcing Project Accountants and Project Managers to read through hundreds of pages to compile and validate invoices. Onware stepped in using Tableau to streamline the process and bring together the disparate data sources.

Onware connected Tableau to eCMS (ODBC), the rental system (SQL Server) and credit card CSVs, mapped six data sources, and deployed interactive dashboards to the client’s Tableau Server with ~15-minute data refreshes and historical lookup capability. The Onware solution automated T&M report compilation, cut preliminary invoice output from hundreds of pages to tens, eliminated much manual cross-referencing, sped up validation and turnover to final invoices, and provided a single, up-to-date source of cost detail for accountants, managers and owners.
