Creating a combined Tableau income statement from multiple business units operating in both US and Canada

Thorpe, a multi-craft industrial service provider with seven operating companies across the US and Canada, faced a time-consuming, error-prone process of manually exporting trial balances to Excel to build consolidated income statements. Onware used Tableau to address complexities including siloed ERPs, differing charts of accounts, CAD-to-USD conversions, month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons, and the need to drill from high-level statements into more than one million transactions.

Onware implemented custom database queries joined with an Excel account-mapping file and historical FX rates, consolidated budget data in the ERP, and published interactive dashboards to Tableau Online via Tableau Bridge.
