LODAC Museum Built Linked Open Data for Academia

LODAC, part of Japan’s National Institute of Informatics, wanted to make academic and cultural heritage information from museums across Japan easier to access and use. The challenge was to aggregate dispersed museum data, model it for web presentation, and add natural language search and a reliable SPARQL endpoint. Ontotext supported the project using its GraphDB semantic database.

Ontotext helped LODAC build a Linked Open Data platform that mapped museum data to RDF and presented it as integrated data views through the LOD.AC Museum website. The solution enabled information from museums nationwide to be combined, improved efficiency, and enhanced the user experience with natural language search, while GraphDB powered the data store and public demo backend.
