American Family Insurance, a U.S.-based insurer with over 13,000 employees across 19 states, needed a way to standardize numerous internal systems onto one security platform during a period of organizational change. Its IT risk and governance data was spread across five operating companies, managed in stand-alone applications and Microsoft Office files, which made it difficult to collect metrics, maintain a source of record, and monitor risk across the business. After reviewing multiple GRC options, the company chose Onspring and its IT Risk Management and GRC Suite.

American Family Insurance implemented Onspring over a 15-month period, including GRC, Vendor Management, and Business Continuity solutions. The company consolidated or replaced 12 applications, completed 230 requests using Onspring, and enabled 20 business processes through the platform. Onspring also supported the implementation of all solutions in the original business case, while additional solutions were added to meet new needs from the company’s operating groups.
