Town expands avenues for communicating with residents using CodeRED notification

The Town of Hamburg faced Winter Storm Knife in November 2014, which dropped seven feet of snow in 19 hours and caused stranded vehicles, road closures, supply shortages and risks of flooding and structural damage. To quickly and broadly warn residents about evolving hazards, the Town of Hamburg worked with OnSolve and used the CodeRED notification system to expand its emergency communication channels.

OnSolve helped the town implement a layered outreach strategy—combining CodeRED alerts (email, recorded phone calls, TDD and text) with Twitter and Facebook—to send a series of targeted messages before, during and after the five-day storm. The OnSolve-powered campaign delivered timely, potentially life‑saving guidance (including vent‑clearing warnings to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning) and ensured residents received critical updates across multiple channels throughout the event.
