Sheriffs Use OnSolve CodeRED to Help in Wildfire Evacuations and to Find Missing People

Yavapai County, Arizona faced a fast-moving human-caused wildfire (the Tenderfoot Fire on June 8, 2016) that threatened the towns of Yarnell and Peeples Valley and required immediate, wide-area evacuation notices. To communicate quickly and reliably with residents, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deployed OnSolve’s CodeRED mass notification system.

OnSolve’s CodeRED was used to issue evacuation orders, follow-up "all-clear" messages, and targeted missing-person alerts; the system placed more than 1,600 calls during a June 19, 2016 missing-person response that helped locate an 86-year-old woman with dementia around 9:45 p.m. The result is a year-round critical resource for Yavapai County, improving public safety by enabling rapid notifications that support evacuations, sheltering, and search-and-rescue efforts.
