Building Community Resilience with OnSolve CodeRED

Benton County, Tennessee, a rural community of about 16,000 between Memphis and Nashville, faced spotty or delayed weather coverage that left residents unaware of imminent severe weather. Local volunteers struggled to reach the broader population and county leaders needed an easy-to-use, grant-friendly alert system. Benton County turned to OnSolve and its CodeRED emergency notification platform to address these gaps.

OnSolve implemented CodeRED as a multimodal, easy-to-use alert system and provided hands-on guidance and training to county staff. The solution enabled timely, localized alerts (including volunteer-triggered reports), helped Benton County earn National Weather Service StormReady recognition, and closed the county’s weather-awareness gap. During a March 2020 tornado, a CodeRED alert gave residents minutes to seek shelter—one family credits the notification with saving their lives—demonstrating OnSolve’s measurable impact on community resilience and public safety.
