Barren County Schools - Customer Case Study

Barren County Schools, a 5,000‑student district in south central Kentucky, faced tedious and ineffective broad communication methods—relying on TV and radio for closings, notes home for club/team news, and office calls for absences. To modernize outreach, Barren County Schools partnered with vendor OnSolve and adopted the OnSolve One Call Now service.

OnSolve enabled district staff to send targeted phone messages to the whole community and to subgroups (schools, teams, clubs), with central district messages and localized messages from principals, coaches, and advisers. Since adopting OnSolve One Call Now (beginning in 2006), the high school alone has sent more than 500 messages to over 299,000 numbers, saving nearly 13,000 staff hours and greatly speeding parent notifications during events like cancellations and tornado warnings.
