Taiga Motors uses Onshape to design eco-friendly electric vehicles that match the performance of combustion engine snowmobiles

Taiga Motors is a Quebec startup building the world’s first commercial electric snowmobile that matches the speed and performance of combustion machines while cutting noise and emissions to help offset growing regulatory pressure on traditional sleds. The company set out to deliver a 120‑hp vehicle with roughly a 100‑km range that lets riders enjoy backcountry terrain without the fumes and disruptive noise that threaten trail access.

To design that snowmobile Taiga adopted Onshape’s cloud CAD, gaining single-source data management, crash-free editing, and fast team onboarding. The switch eliminated version-control headaches, saved an estimated $25–30K in software and hardware costs, and freed budget for motor, mechanical and dynamic simulations—streamlining development and helping Taiga move more quickly toward production.
