How HackerOne Leverages Onna to Empower Its IT, Legal, and Compliance Teams

HackerOne, the leading hacker‑powered security platform, faced growing eDiscovery and collaboration challenges after upgrading to Slack Enterprise Grid. Slack’s corporate exports arrived as complex JSON that their open‑source tools couldn’t parse, leaving IT, legal, compliance, and HR teams with slow, privacy‑risking workflows for preserving and locating data. To solve this, HackerOne adopted Onna’s eDiscovery and data‑archiving platform.

Onna continuously synced and parsed Slack and other sources, mirrored retention policies, and provided context‑aware search with granular workspace permissions so teams could share only the data needed. The change restored private cross‑team collaboration, reduced billable hours, and sped investigations by enabling teams to narrow datasets early and self‑serve searches. For example, an Onna search surfaced 631,202 items and detected 382 U.S. Social Security Numbers among other sensitive data, illustrating the platform’s scale and impact for HackerOne.
