Case Study: DLRG achieves secure collaborative document editing with ONLYOFFICE and Nextcloud

How the German Life Saving Association uses ONLYOFFICE and Nextcloud to organize effective collaboration for a distributed team

DLRG, the German Life Saving Association, needed a way to provide its many distributed divisions with a central document storage and better collaboration tools, especially real-time document co-editing. To support secure, location-independent work on its own infrastructure, the organization looked for a self-hosted office solution and chose ONLYOFFICE Docs integrated with Nextcloud.

With ONLYOFFICE and Nextcloud, DLRG created a single collaborative workspace for its volunteers, enabling document editing on the go, including from smartphones, and supporting everyday administration, training concepts, and disaster-response coordination. The solution improved teamwork across nearly 2,000 divisions, kept collaboration productive during the Covid-19 period, and helped DLRG offer a free central file exchange service operated by volunteers on its own servers.
