How the Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación implemented ONLYOFFICE Docs to ensure document collaboration for research purposes

Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), Spain’s national supercomputing facility, needed a secure way for its researchers and support staff to collaborate on documents in real time across 57 research groups. Using B2DROP/Nextcloud for file sharing was not enough for scientific workflows, so the team looked for a Nextcloud-compatible office suite that could support online co-editing while keeping sensitive research data under strict internal control.

BSC-CNS implemented ONLYOFFICE Docs integrated with Nextcloud to enable browser-based and local document editing, group collaboration, and multi-user real-time co-editing. The solution improved shared document workflows for hundreds of researchers and external collaborators, and most early issues were quickly resolved with ONLYOFFICE technical support; the center says it will continue expanding adoption because the platform has strong potential and has already reduced user incidents over time.
