Newtonwood, a Chartered Quantity Surveyors practice serving high-end residential and mixed-use development projects, needed to migrate key applications from on-premises infrastructure to AWS to support business expansion and address poor network connectivity and outages. The company worked with Onica on a cloud infrastructure and cloud migration project involving Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint.

Onica implemented a highly available Exchange 2013 cluster in AWS and migrated Newtonwood’s Windows 2003 applications and SharePoint using a lift-and-shift approach. The move allowed Newtonwood to shut down its on-site data center within four weeks, improved system availability and performance, and delivered 100% uptime to date, with migration payback recovered in 3.5 months.
