Migration to AWS a gift of time and cost savings

Buyatab, a Vancouver-based provider of online gift card infrastructure, technology, and marketing services, needed to evolve from a startup-era managed hosting setup built on .NET and SQL into a scalable, flexible cloud environment. The company also wanted to move toward continuous deployment and improve its ability to meet rapidly growing customer demand. Onica was brought in to help guide the migration to AWS.

Onica implemented a transformational migration to AWS, automating environment management with PowerShell, AWS CloudFormation, PowerShell DSC, and CredStash, while also building a CI/CD pipeline with Bamboo and AWS CodeDeploy. The result was improved scalability, reliability, security, and disaster recovery, plus reduced manual effort and better operational consistency. Buyatab’s final cutover to AWS finished 25 minutes ahead of schedule on a 60-minute procedure, and the company also avoided a major on-premises capital expenditure thanks to Onica.
