eHarmony, the online dating company with tens of millions of registrants and millions of matches processed each day, needed a faster and more reliable way to build and test new systems before production. Their existing “runway” development environments were slow to provision and limited their ability to quickly validate integrated services, so they turned to Onica for help exploring AWS-based augmentation of their infrastructure.

Onica implemented a hybrid AWS runway environment using AWS Direct Connect to connect eHarmony’s data center to AWS, keeping the database on-premises while reducing testing latency. As a result, eHarmony could spin up multiple runways on demand, provision environments faster, improve productivity, scale resources up and down more easily, and better manage costs—while also gaining a path to extend the same approach to disaster recovery and production infrastructure.
