Case Study: AutoPets achieves greater reliability and scalability with Onica

A Onica Case Study

Preview of the AutoPets Case Study

Building a Robust Infrastructure for an Enhanced IoT User Experience

AutoPets, the company behind the connected Litter-Robot pet care products, wanted to improve the speed and reliability of its mobile app and IoT platform as it prepared to launch Android. Its existing AWS-based setup relied heavily on legacy infrastructure rather than managed services like AWS IoT, leading to inconsistent performance, difficult onboarding, and limited scalability.

Onica helped AutoPets modernize the platform with AWS IoT Core, Kinesis, Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway, while also supporting firmware, provisioning, and app updates for both iOS and Android. The result was a more stable, scalable system with lower server costs, much faster message handling, and a smoother Android launch that supported 10,000+ users; onboarding and reliability improved significantly compared with the earlier iOS rollout.
