Providing a safe digital education infrastructure for e-learning applications

ThiemeMeulenhoff, a Dutch educational publisher transitioning into a designer of learning processes, needed a secure, scalable identity layer to give millions of students, teachers and parents seamless access to a modular digital education infrastructure. To meet strict privacy and availability requirements for minors and to consolidate many subsystems, ThiemeMeulenhoff selected Thales OneWelcome’s Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) / Identity & Access Management (IAM) platform.

Thales OneWelcome implemented a private‑cloud IAM solution (SAML, SCIM, OAuth, OpenID Connect) hosted in EU datacentres with Single Sign‑On, federation to legacy education networks, and load‑balanced capacity to handle peak traffic. The deployment now supports 2,000,000+ users across 4 federations, delivering simple, secure, compliant access, improved business continuity and cost efficiencies versus the former setup, while enabling new services and upsell opportunities for ThiemeMeulenhoff.
