Onboarding external users to Europe’s gateway to space - smoothly and securely

The European Space Agency (ESA) needed a modern cloud-based B2B identity and access management solution to replace its legacy home‑grown system, improve external user onboarding, federation/SSO and GDPR compliance, and reduce the administrative burden on staff. ESA selected Thales OneWelcome (the Thales OneWelcome Identity Platform) to meet these requirements and to integrate with its on‑premises IGA for access provisioning and certification.

Thales OneWelcome delivered a flexible identity platform with delegated user management, self‑registration and invitation workflows, LinkedIn/Google social logins, adjustable branding and terminology, SSO/federation and integrated consent management. The deployment now supports about 5,000 business users across 40 applications (with two social login providers), streamlined administration via delegated managers, and ensured GDPR‑compliant consent capture and re‑consent tracking.
