A Thales OneWelcome Case Study
Koninklijke Bibliotheek (the Dutch Royal Library) set out to give the entire Dutch public a single access “key” to its digital services but faced a massive scalability and integration challenge: more than 7,000,000 active user accounts (projected toward 10 million), hundreds of partner applications, and the need to provide inclusive access for people with visual or reading disabilities. To meet these requirements the library selected the Thales OneWelcome Identity Platform, deployed on a private cloud to guarantee availability, dedicated login servers and the ability to scale for traffic peaks.
Thales OneWelcome implemented a microservices-based, private-cloud Identity Platform with reserved servers, Kibana monitoring, voice-technology integration and support for OAuth and SAML single sign-on across partner apps. As a result, Thales OneWelcome turned the library into a central identity hub supporting 7,000,000 users and 200+ applications with one authentication service and one dashboard, delivering scalable, monitored and inclusive digital access while enabling further growth and partner integration.
