The European Space Agency (ESA) wanted to open access to 20 years of Copernicus earth‑observation data through the sobloo DIAS collaboration platform but needed easy, secure, GDPR‑compliant identity and access management for a wide range of users. Thales OneWelcome tailored its cloud‑based Consumer IAM service to integrate with the sobloo platform (built by Airbus, Orange Business Services and Capgemini), delivering a working prototype in just three weeks and ensuring European data residency and regulatory compliance. The solution provided seamless, scalable access (designed to support millions of users), enabled the secure public launch of sobloo on June 21, 2018, and delivered a rapid, low‑friction implementation that met the consortium’s performance and security requirements.
