Progress Software Increases Opt-In Rates with OneTrust A/B Testing

Progress Software, a global technology company, needed to balance GDPR/CCPA compliance with better user experience and higher cookie opt-in rates across its five websites. After initially trying manual A/B testing (one banner every two weeks), the team found the process tedious and inconclusive, so they turned to OneTrust, using OneTrust’s Cookie Consent module and Consent Rate Optimization/A/B testing capabilities to address consent rate challenges.

OneTrust implemented an A/B/C experiment that randomized EU visitors across three cookie banner designs (modal popup, bottom-centered banner, and full-width bottom banner). Within one month the test drove a 20% increase in opt-ins; the modal popup performed best with an 83% opt-in and 2% opt-out rate (bottom-center averaged 76% opt-in and 1% opt-out). OneTrust’s A/B testing and Virtual Health Check made testing efficient, gave Progress clear insights into user behavior, and enabled ongoing optimization.
