TerraForm Power - Customer Case Study

TerraForm Power, a New York–based owner and operator of over 4,000 MW of solar and wind assets with roughly 170 employees and ~$940M in revenue, needed to modernize its finance systems after separating from its previous sponsor. Its legacy Oracle Hyperion applications and heavy reliance on Excel caused inconsistent reporting, compliance challenges, disconnected ERP and consolidation systems, lack of audit trails and high server and licensing costs.

Working with The Hackett Group, TerraForm implemented OneStream on Microsoft Azure as a unified cloud CPM platform used by 75 users across accounting, FP&A and portfolio management for 1,200 entities and six hierarchies. The solution established a single source of truth, shortened the close from seven to four days, cut account reconciliations from ~700 to 150, saved about $100K annually in licensing, dramatically reduced intercompany out‑of‑balances and enabled faster upgrades, deeper analysis and more frequent driver‑based forecasting.
