U.S. Army targets saving billions of dollars in processing costs with new forms automation solution

The U.S. Army faced mounting costs and delays from paper-based, forms-driven workflows used across supply, medical, logistics and personnel processes. To boost productivity and reduce risk in the field, the Army turned to OneSpan for a centralized e-forms and digital-signature solution that would enable web-based, XML e-forms accessible from soldiers in the field through headquarters.

OneSpan implemented an enterprise XML e-forms platform with secure electronic signatures, centralized content management and online/offline form completion and approval, eliminating paper routing and the need to transport documents through combat zones. As a result, the Army projects about $1.3 billion in annual administrative-processing savings, roughly a one‑third reduction in time to complete forms, and millions of personnel hours saved while reducing exposure to enemy fire.
