Unibet, a growing online sports betting operator in the US, faced an unsustainable manual process for reviewing every customer withdrawal as it expanded into multiple states. Manual review created scalability problems, slower payouts that hurt customer experience, and low job satisfaction for analysts. To address this, Unibet engaged OneSpan and adopted OneSpan Risk Analytics to introduce automated, rules-based screening of withdrawal requests.
OneSpan implemented customizable and pre-built rule sets to automatically clear low-risk transactions (targeting automation of about 90% of requests), letting analysts focus on true suspicious cases. The solution is expected to cut future hiring needs (Unibet projected a headcount that could be roughly half of a fully manual scenario), speed up payouts, and reduce charge-back volumes; the project launched in July 2021 with full deployment planned in the second half of October. OneSpan’s Risk Analytics also provides data to refine rules over time and improve fraud detection.
