A OneSpan Case Study
The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) needed to eliminate paper-based bottlenecks across mission‑critical workflows—lengthy approval cycles, poor visibility into processes, and costly, time‑consuming paper handling—while meeting strict security, auditability and signature requirements in the Comptroller’s Office and across the Pentagon LAN. To address these challenges the Joint Chiefs of Staff adopted OneSpan Sign e-signatures as the core of their paperless Joint Staff Action Processing Program (JSAP).
OneSpan implemented OneSpan Sign across the JCS environment, integrating e-signatures into the ERP portal (Momentum® Financials), supporting intranet/extranet e-forms and CAC interoperability, and enabling digitized hand‑scripted signatures for external partners. The deployment—one of the longest-running federal e-signature programs since 1996—returned hours to action officers, enabled the Comptroller’s Office to approve about 2,500 acquisition and financial actions annually, sharply reduced paper/shipping/archiving and labor costs, and embedded an audit trail so records can be stored in the ERP for 6 years and 5 months for faster, more secure audits.
