Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), Japan’s second-largest bank, needed to improve digital accessibility for visually impaired customers and provide a simple OTP option for those who do not use smartphones. To meet this requirement, SMBC selected OneSpan’s Digipass 302 Comfort Voice, an audio-capable hardware one-time password (OTP) token.
OneSpan’s Digipass 302 Comfort Voice was deployed using SMBC’s existing OTP infrastructure and mirrors the operation of the bank’s current tokens, enabling rapid rollout with little-to-no training and no additional system development. The solution improved online banking accessibility for visually impaired customers, maintained transaction security for transfers and account changes, accelerated deployment, and achieved high user satisfaction.
