Sony Bank Secures Online Banking Services And Transactions

Sony Bank, the online bank behind the MONEYKit internet banking service, faced rising phishing and hacking that made knowledge‑based authentication (static passwords) insufficient. To replace KBA with one‑time password (OTP) protection, Sony Bank selected OneSpan and its Digipass hardware tokens together with the OneSpan Authentication Server Framework.

OneSpan implemented its Authentication Server Framework and Digipass tokens (including developer training and on‑site validation), moving customers to OTP authentication for important transactions. The 2012 rollout ran smoothly with no system failures reported, achieved favorable customer adoption, delivered customizable tokens, and helped Sony Bank balance stronger security with user convenience while raising its industry security standing.
