Roc Amsterdam and Roc Flevoland Protect Access to Student Portal

ROC van Amsterdam operates a student portal used by approximately 30,000 students and 4,000 staff and needed to stop frequent accidental exposure of instructor passwords and reduce human error. To strengthen access control beyond static passwords, they engaged OneSpan and implemented OneSpan Authentication technology, including the OneSpan Authentication Server.

OneSpan deployed one-time passwords via a mobile app or small hardware tokens, with the OneSpan Authentication Server handling high peak authentication loads. The OTPs—valid only for seconds—prevent reuse or interception, teachers quickly adopted the solution, and the rollout saved time at lecture start while protecting sensitive student data; OneSpan’s system proved scalable and user-friendly for the school’s hourly peak logins.
