Rabobank Selects VASCO CrontoSign Technology for Online Banking Security and Customer Convenience

Rabobank needed to balance convenient online banking with strong protection against increasingly sophisticated banking malware and man‑in‑the‑middle attacks. To meet that challenge, Rabobank selected OneSpan and rolled out the Rabo Scanner, a DIGIPASS authenticator that uses OneSpan’s CrontoSign visual transaction‑signing technology.

OneSpan’s solution displays a color cryptographic QR code on the customer’s device that the Rabo Scanner reads to present transaction details (amount and payee) back to the user, preventing tampering and replication by attackers. The deployment improved user friendliness while delivering high‑level transaction security—mitigating malware and MITM risks and providing assurance that payment instructions are not altered, a protection cited by Trend Micro against the Emmental attack.
