The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), a crown corporation focused on supporting Canadian entrepreneurs, needed to speed up loan closings while preserving face-to-face service and strong security controls. With account managers working remotely about 70% of the time, BDC faced a paper-to-digital challenge and the risk of insecure mobile transactions; they selected OneSpan and its OneSpan Sign e-signature platform to address these needs.
BDC launched the Express Loan mobile app integrated and white‑labeled with OneSpan Sign so account managers could complete and e-sign loan documents in person. The rollout equipped 600 account managers, enabled authorizations up to $750,000 in under 30 minutes, achieved over 4,000 loans totaling $466.7M (including more than 3,000 Express Loans), cut visits so 60% of pre‑authorized loans required only one visit, reached ~90% adoption in two months, and saved nearly 26,000 hours of manual work while adding OneSpan’s strong audit trails for compliance.
