Case Study: DnB NOR secures Norway’s BankID, boosts customer satisfaction and reduces costs with OneSpan DIGIPASS

Dnb Nor, Norway’s Largest Financial Services Group, Implemented Vasco’s Digipass to Secure the Bankid Scheme

DnB NOR, Norway’s largest financial services group, needed to meet the BankID scheme’s PKI security requirements while replacing a mix of one-time-passwords and authentication devices with a single, user-friendly method. To secure BankID and simplify customer logons, DnB NOR selected OneSpan and its DIGIPASS solution (notably DIGIPASS GO 3 for retail customers and DIGIPASS 250 for corporate clients).

OneSpan implemented centralized PKI-protected keys safeguarded by DIGIPASS tokens and a static password, eliminating smartcard infrastructure and reducing user friction. The rollout simplified administration and support, increased customer satisfaction, produced very few technical issues, and helped DnB NOR scale BankID (used by over 1.5 million users nationwide and expected to handle 150+ million transactions in 2008). OneSpan’s DIGIPASS GO 3 also scored best on cost and usability over a three-year lifecycle, enabling lower costs and easier staff training.
