Digital Transformation in Banking Starts with a Digital-first Culture

Clarien Bank, one of Bermuda’s largest independent financial services organizations, faced the need to accelerate its digital transformation during the pandemic by removing paper-based friction from account opening and enabling secure, remote customer experiences. To digitize onboarding and identity checks, Clarien partnered with OneSpan and adopted OneSpan Sign for electronic signatures and digital identity verification.

Clarien integrated OneSpan Sign into its online banking portal and mobile app so documents can be pre-populated, signed electronically, and verified in real time using AI-based ID checks and optional facial biometrics. The OneSpan solution enabled customers to complete account openings in a single sitting on their mobile devices, reduced handoffs and drop-off points, increased identity assurance, and supported a blended human–digital experience for more complex cases.
