How Localization Leveraged MailTime to Get Featured in 19 Countries

MailTime, an email‑messaging app that reformats email into a chat‑style inbox, set out to grow beyond regional messaging rivals by localizing its product early. The team faced typical globalization challenges—UI text expansion in languages like Russian, Portuguese, German and French and initial doubts about Asian users’ appetite for email—so they needed fast, context‑aware translation and occasional UI redesigns to fit translated strings.

Working with OneSky and preferred translators, MailTime adapted its UI and translations for 12 languages and tailored its rollout for each market. The localized release reached 20K downloads in 10 days (versus 5 months for the prior version), earned Apple App Store features in 19 countries, increased daily downloads tenfold, drove stronger uptake in Asia, and set the stage to add seven more languages.
