CapSpecialty - Customer Case Study

CapSpecialty, a Wisconsin-based national underwriter of specialty commercial insurance, faced a competitive disadvantage from two legacy fidelity and surety systems. The company needed to convert 20 years of bond data, automate workflows to support cost-effective growth, and give agents real-time access to quoting and issuance. CapSpecialty selected OneShield and its OneShield Policy platform to consolidate systems, meet regulatory controls, and accelerate product delivery.

OneShield implemented OneShield Policy and helped CapSpecialty build CapEx, a surety underwriting portal with quick-quote, automated underwriting and straight-through processing. The project converted 20 years of data from two systems, consolidated back-office processing from four branches to one, automated renewals and real-time bond issuance, and expanded from an initial 20 bonds to support hundreds (about 830 bonds, with over 900 automated bond types reported). As a result, agents gained 24/7 self-service, underwriting costs were reduced, operations were streamlined, and CapSpecialty later selected OneShield as its enterprise core solution.
