Uncommon Schools Gains SSO System of Record and Holistic Support for Entire User Lifecycle with OneLogin and PowerSchool

Uncommon Schools is a nonprofit that runs 54 urban charter schools serving about 20,000 students with a mission to prepare graduates for college; more than 90% of its high school graduates are accepted to college. As the organization scaled, it needed a Single Sign-On (SSO) solution that could manage the full lifecycle of students and staff. Their existing Okta setup couldn’t natively connect to Active Directory or reliably update, suspend, or delete accounts from source systems, creating heavy administrative overhead and uptime concerns.

Uncommon Schools selected OneLogin, which integrated with PowerSchool (their student source of truth) and provided seamless migration from Okta. OneLogin enabled real-time identity lifecycle management, now supporting 14 production and 6 test apps, automating student data syncs into downstream systems, and pushing updates through Mindshift to Active Directory while Workday will become the future staff source. The result is improved lifecycle management, greater flexibility to evolve the IT environment, and streamlined administration.
