University of Sheffield - Customer Case Study

The University of Sheffield faced the challenge of providing a flexible, media-rich internal signage system for its new Information Commons (opened 10 April 2007) spread over six floors, with no traditional signage initially in place. To reach staff, students and visitors equally and support multiple channels, local browser-based updates and integration with existing AV/network infrastructure, the university chose a digital signage solution from ONELAN (Century NTBs units).

ONELAN deployed an 18-unit Century NTBs network paired with 18 Samsung LCD monitors to deliver multi-channel, Flash-enhanced displays with both local and remote control; authorised terminals on each level can update content. The install was completed in three working days and put dynamic messaging across the 6-floor, 24/7 Information Commons into immediate use, giving the University of Sheffield a measurable, fast-deployed platform for communicating to over 1,300 study spaces and 500 networked PCs.
