A ONELAN Case Study
NHS Rotherham runs QTV, an in‑house television network that delivers health information to patient waiting areas across the borough. Facing the need to modernize from VHS/DVD distribution and to guarantee continuous, high‑quality video playback while resolving NTB processor speeds and CAT5 network issues, NHS Rotherham selected ONELAN and its digital signage solution (Net‑Top‑Box/NTB 5005) to meet these technical and production challenges.
ONELAN’s NTB 5005 devices were integrated into an end‑to‑end workflow—HD capture on Sony XDCAM, editing on Final Cut Pro HD, encoding and publishing to a dedicated FTP server, and overnight downloads across the NHS network—feeding zone‑based screens with video, tickertape and BBC News24. The ONELAN solution delivered a seamless, daily‑updatable public information service, improved production values (locally produced content was often mistaken for London output), and measurable impact: a Manchester Business School–linked study rated this delivery method by patients as second only to receiving information directly from a clinician.
