ArcelorMittal takes the ‘Bull by the Horns’ with ONELAN

ArcelorMittal, headquartered in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa, needed a reliable, real‑time communication tool to reach employees across seven factories—many of whom are not office‑based—so critical health, safety and corporate messages could be conveyed and remotely updated. They engaged ONELAN to provide a digital signage solution that had to be remotely configurable, highly reliable and operable in harsh industrial conditions.

ONELAN deployed 46 ONELAN Millennium Net‑top‑box (NTB) 6000s (with one NTB‑6000P publisher) driving 45 46" displays and a 2m×2m outdoor LED, managed centrally via ONELAN Digital Signage Manager (DSM). The system uses 10 rotating layouts, RSS feeds, a Virtual Ox safety incentive fed by daily Excel data on SharePoint via an ONELAN Data Collection (DCE), and live webcam/content updates. The network is stable with low maintenance, has improved health and safety visibility across sites, and — according to ArcelorMittal — delivers measurable ROI in saved lives and reduced fatalities.
