How Big Brothers & Big Sisters Used the Virtual Event Center for Fundraising Innovation

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio faced the sudden loss of two of its major spring fundraisers when COVID-19 struck, and an earlier attempt to replicate the experience over Zoom fell short of the engagement they needed. To solve this, the chapter worked with vendor OneCause and adopted the OneCause Virtual Event Center to produce a bespoke online event — “Big Night of Bourbon” — that aimed to recreate the live donor experience and deepen connections to their mission.

OneCause’s Virtual Event Center delivered a full production toolkit (live streams, silent auction, online raffle, text messaging, invite tools, donate overlays and guest chat) that enabled a seamless 60-minute virtual tasting and fundraising experience. The event drew 300+ supporters (200% of goal) and raised $52,193 — doubling expectations — demonstrating OneCause’s measurable impact on donor engagement and revenue.
