Dream on 3, a Charlotte-based nonprofit that grants sports-themed dream experiences to children with serious medical conditions, relied heavily on revenue from its annual Dream Gala but needed new ways to reach more donors and boost giving. In 2017 the organization partnered with OneCause (formerly BidPal) to simplify giving and introduce mobile donations and an electronic Fund‑A‑Need to engage attendees and remote supporters.

OneCause’s mobile fundraising platform, real-time Donation Scoreboard and social/corporate team fundraising features were used to drive competitive bidding and remote participation. After an initial $13,000 from 77 mobile donations in 2017, Dream on 3’s 2018 gala saw 739 bids (averaging 11 bids per item and 135% of item value) and raised over $115,000—a 784% increase over 2017—with 100 donors participating (one couple gave 21 times), demonstrating the measurable impact of OneCause’s solution.
