Community in the Face of Tragedy, We Are Stoneman Douglas

We Are Stoneman Douglas — a community-led fundraiser organized by Parkland Country Club after the February 14, 2018 mass shooting — needed a fast, affordable way to maximize donations and engage supporters. Fundraisers had donated goods and services but lacked cost-effective fundraising technology; OneCause stepped in when Area Director Eric Sparks donated the Do-It-Yourself BidPal mobile bidding software and access to its Giving Center, SmartPay checkout, text messaging and scoreboards.

Using OneCause’s Giving Center and mobile tools, organizers launched online ticket sales and auctions days before the event, growing the auction from 230 to more than 400 items, selling out tickets within two days, and hosting over 600 guests. The OneCause-powered mobile bidding and checkout drove participation and convenience, helping the We Are Stoneman Douglas event raise more than $264,000 for the Broward Education Foundation and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Victims' Fund.
