How Wyong Shire Council mobilised and optimised their workforce

Wyong Shire Council faced a shift in how residents and staff access services as rapid population and mobility changes made mobile channels the norm. The Council needed a cost-effective mobile platform to let remote field staff (lifeguards, road crews, maintenance teams) submit reports from the field while integrating securely with back-end systems like Microsoft SharePoint, SQL Server and HP TRIM, and to support offline use in low‑coverage areas. OneBlink was engaged, proposing its blinkAnswers and blinkForms mobile services.

OneBlink delivered a hosted blinkAnswers/blinkForms solution that runs on common devices, integrates with Council databases and records management, time‑stamps submissions and caches data offline. In a three‑month lifeguard trial (July–September) photos and incident reports were submitted and uploaded within moments into SharePoint and TRIM, giving managers near‑real‑time visibility; staff embraced the system and data loss in poor reception was avoided. As a result, Wyong Shire Council is expanding use across operations, using blinkAnswers for public updates and anticipating significant savings by keeping staff working in the field.
