How Cumberland Council mobilised and optimised their workforce

Cumberland City Council was struggling with limited visibility and inefficiencies in managing kerbside clean‑ups and dumped rubbish pickups, which made booking, job allocation and performance reporting difficult. To modernise the service and enable non‑technical depot staff to use and extend solutions, the Council engaged OneBlink’s code‑optional application development suite to rethink the customer booking experience and capture actionable operational data.

OneBlink delivered a three‑pronged solution — a resident web app for bookings and guidance, a Council staff app for job management and phone bookings, and a contractor app with real‑time job details, photo evidence and deferral capability — backed by a custom database, API layer, offline support, AD authentication and MS Flow integrations. The deployment increased operational visibility, cut phone enquiries, enabled BI reporting, and has handled more than 100,000 bookings since going live in October 2017, materially improving customer service and field efficiency.
