Work-life realignment for local authority staf

The City of Frankfurt, a local government authority serving 690,000 inhabitants, needed to expand workplace flexibility through homeworking as part of its "Family and Work" initiative while keeping citizen data secure. After evaluating multiple options, the City selected One Identity’s Defender (with existing Active Roles integration) to provide secure, user-friendly two-factor authentication.

One Identity implemented Defender integrated with Active Directory and Active Roles, enabling token-based two-factor authentication, self-service token management for administrators, and seamless remote access. The deployment delivered guaranteed data security, easier administration, strong scalability and lower cost per user — about 700 tokens issued to date and roughly 200 staff regularly working from home — improving staff work-life balance without compromising network protection.
