Case Study: Vallentuna kommun achieves secure AD single sign-on and automated user deprovisioning with One Identity (Active Roles)

A One Identity Case Study

Preview of the Vallentuna kommun Case Study

Vallentuna kommun Swedish council enjoys secure user authentication

Vallentuna kommun, a Swedish municipal council serving roughly 30,000 residents and providing IT services to some 7,500 employees and students, needed to deliver secure, Active Directory–based single sign‑on while linking AD to its HR system and national social security/tax systems. The council also wanted to eliminate the security risk of manual deprovisioning and avoid costly custom development, so it engaged One Identity and selected the Active Roles solution.

One Identity implemented Active Roles to automate user and group lifecycle management, verify AD users against the HR and government systems, and enforce automatic deprovisioning when staff or students leave. The deployment enabled AD‑based SSO and removed the need for external consultants—connections that previously took days or weeks were completed in hours (less than two hours vs two days, an 87% time saving; and half a day vs two weeks, a 95% time saving)—improving security and cutting time and cost.
